As the waiting list is growing day by day, the New South Wales (NSW) Government is planning to pump in more funds to reduce the queue.

It has decided to allocate to more money to the region's area health services. This step is thought to help cut elective surgery waiting lists.

The Hunter New England and north coast area health services will get a funding boost of $500,000 each.

This would help them to go about the attending patients in a smoother manner.

The key targets are patients needing urgent elective surgery and those who have waited more than 12 months for hip replacement and cataract surgery.

The North Coast Area Health director Chris Crawford says the aim is to clear waiting lists by June. All the necessary steps are taken to bring down the waiting list to zero.
