Ahmedabad based company Online Infocomm, which helped SARS affected South-East Asia two years ago, by installing telemedicine-based thermal scanners are now under the process of designing a new system that could help early diagnosis of the bird flu and isolate people affected by it.

The company has sought the permission from the central and state government by sending letters to Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, for installing the bird flu surveillance system.

The chairman and managing director of Online Infocomm Mr. Ragesh Shah said that after they had successfully isolated people from the SARS affected areas, they started working on a similar system that could tackle the spread of the bird flu. He also added that since the symptoms of both the diseases are more or less similar the newly developed system to isolate bird flu also would be accurate.

The system will scan the people in the affected areas by their body temperature, respiration and blood samples. As the blood sampling is done by infra-red blood sampling there won’t be any need to take blood samples physically. If any of the person’s breathing or body temperature seems to be abnormal he will be advised to go for a detailed check up.

The data thus received would be transmitted through broadband or telephone lines to a central bird flu isolation system based at a hospital.

The company has claimed that the system had an accuracy of ninety percent in isolating SARS patients during its outbreak and can expect the same for the present epidemic too.

Once the concern gets the consent from the government it will be installing as many as 500 isolation systems to isolate the people from the suspected areas.
