 Computer Misreads Prescription
     December 17, 2006

A computer misread the prescription given by a general practitioner for an anti-smoking pill Zyban, as Viagra. Zyban was prescribed to smokers, among the residents of Glasgow, who were trying to kick the habit.

The BBC reported that, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said, due to an error the computer selected sildenafil, the name for Viagra instead of anti-smoking pill Zyban.

'At no time was patient care affected by this as all prescriptions are subject to stringent double checking,' says a spokesman for NHS.
